driftboat floats for salmon and trout

Drift boats allow anglers to fish many lies that are difficult or impossible to reach by wading. They also provide a very comfortable and convenient way to move among prime holding pools. For these reasons, drift boats have been popular on western rivers for many years. A number of Maine’s large rivers are also well-suited to drift boat fishing, but they have only begun to gain popularity here recently.

We run several different rivers in a very comfortable Hyde drift boat that has padded swivel seats and knee braces front and back. Some rivers provide long floats where we are constantly on the move. Others are much shorter runs where we use the boat primarily to provide a convenient casting platform for fishing difficult to reach lies in prime pools. River options are influenced dramatically by the season, so it’s best to contact me to discuss the type of float you are interested in and the dates you want to go.

Drift boat trips can accommodate two anglers. Full day driftboat trips cost $320 and include lunch and beverages. Half day driftboat trips cost $210 and include soft drinks and a snack . Custom itineraries can be arranged upon request.

"Your driftboat let me fish water I could never reach before (while wading). Thanks for guiding me to my best day of Maine salmon fishing ever."
