Ice fishing is a popular winter activity that many
people from outside of Maine miss out on. I like it
because it offers a dramatic contrast to open-water fishing and always produces some of the largest fish of the season. The fact that it tends to be a very social activity also greatly adds to its appeal.
I offer a limited number of guided ice fishing trips each winter.
These trips can range from a challenging wilderness
excursion in pursuit of trophy lake trout and salmon, to an
easy day of fishing out of a heated ice shack or lakeside cabin. Single day trips start at $320 per day and include all of your
fishing gear, a hot lunch, and
a snowmobile ride to the fishing grounds. Kids and well-behaved dogs
are welcome on appropriate trips.
I am affiliated with serveral top lodges and offer packages that include a comfortable lakeside cabin, meals, etc. Some popular 'extras' also include a dog-sled ride to the fishing grounds, a wood-fired hot tub (out on the ice - under the stars), snowmobiling and cross-country skiing.
