These days there are lots of fly fishing schools available. Most are
hosted by well-known anglers or fishing organizations
and offer a fairly similar curriculum. Your fly fishing
ability will improve by attending any of these schools.
How much it improves, in large part, depends on the
instructor's ability to teach. The issue is not about
the school's facilities, or how good a fisherman your
instructor is, but rather, how good they are at transferring
their knowledge to you.
I
have BS and MS degrees in entomology (insects) and
have been a biology instructor at the University of
Maine (Orono) for 22 years. In 2001, I received the
Outstanding Teaching Award. I have also taught a fly
fishing course at UMaine and am a Certified
Casting Instructor.
We offer three different types of fly
fishing schools. Click the links to below to determine the one that is best for you.
I never lose sight of the fact
that fishing is a form of recreation, not a
matter of life and death. Therefore, the over-riding
goal in all of our fly fishing schools is for everyone
to have FUN.
